JJ Birden

A Small Man in a Big Man’s Game of Football

As a former NFL wide receiver, JJ Birden knows what it takes to reach the highest level of performance and have the capacity to maintain it. Many of the success principles he learned as a professional athlete have helped him thrive in the business world as an entrepreneur and professional speaker. In his presentations, JJ shares his winning principles and strategies for how to maximize and seize opportunities. As JJ says, success is never given; it is always earned.

Birden earned a scholarship to the University of Oregon for track and field, also earning a walk-on spot with the football team in his sophomore year. Despite facing naysayers, a cycle of injuries and unimpressive stats, through sheer tenacity, grit, speed, desire and hard work, JJ eventually earned an invitation to the NFL combine. He found ways to win and succeed in the NFL, a profession where the average player is 6’2" and 245 lbs, while JJ was 5’10" and weighed 157 lbs. Birden would go on to play 9 seasons in the NFL, crushing the average player's career of less than 2 years.

Today, JJ Birden is an engaging and passionate keynote speaker, and a leading authority on helping individuals seize their opportunities in life. JJ is a bestselling author and entrepreneur who shares lessons from his life to help audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and professions. He shares the specific tools he used to overcome the underdog mindset and transform into an MVP winner’s mindset.
